WeAre8 Launches In-Feed Virtual Music Festival ‘8fest’

WeAre8, a social media platform focused on positivity and creator value, has announced 8fest, a first-of-its-kind virtual music festival embedded directly into user feeds. Running from July 11 to 13, the three-day event is curated by prominent music figures including Robin Murray (Clash Magazine), Gus Unger-Hamilton (alt-J), and TK (Finesse Foreva), and features emerging artists selected by industry insiders.

The festival model breaks from traditional formats – there are no ticket barriers or stages. Instead, music will be seamlessly integrated into users’ social feeds, enabling algorithm-free discovery and direct links to Spotify for full-track listening. Album drops, live content, and artist spotlights will all be woven into the 8fest experience, offering a novel path for music discovery.

WeAre8 has partnered with Gotobeat and Nordoff and Robbins, a UK-based music therapy charity, to broaden the cultural and social impact of the event. Artists will upload their music through the platform, and festival attendees can access exclusive content curated for each day. The initiative reflects WeAre8’s mission to realign monetization toward creators and audiences, with revenue-sharing, charitable contributions, and user incentives built directly into the platform.

With approximately 500,000 monthly users earlier this year, WeAre8 sees 8fest as a milestone in its evolution: a move from a positive social platform to a destination for immersive, artist-centered experiences. As curated lineups roll out over July, the platform aims to demonstrate the potential for social-first festivals that foster connection, discovery, and cultural engagement – all without conventional concert infrastructure.
