Snapchat Hits 250 Million Monthly Active Users In India
Snapchat has announced a major user milestone in India, reaching over 250 million monthly active users. This growth underscores India’s importance as one of Snapchat’s fastest-growing and most engaged markets globally, particularly among younger demographics. According to the company, 90% of its daily Indian users are between the ages of 13 and 34, highlighting its strong foothold with Gen Z and Millennials.
The platform’s popularity in India is also driven by augmented reality (AR), where user interaction continues to soar. India now ranks as Snapchat’s second-largest AR developer market. Lens usage alone has surpassed 80 billion plays per month, with around 80% of users interacting with lenses daily. Engagement spikes further during festive seasons, with over 85% of Indian users using lenses to enhance celebrations.
Snapchat attributes this momentum to its localized strategy, which includes regionally relevant content, partnerships, and a strong push to elevate Indian creators through its Spotlight and Stories features. The company is also focused on building a long-term, sustainable business by supporting the local AR ecosystem and enhancing value for advertisers.
Looking ahead, Snapchat plans to deepen its roots in India by nurturing community engagement, strengthening business ties, and expanding its creative and AR offerings to keep pace with the country’s evolving digital landscape.
