Former Twitterrific Team Debuts Tapestry, a Unified Social Feed

The Iconfactory, the team behind the now-defunct Twitterrific, has launched a new iPhone and iPad app called Tapestry, designed to integrate multiple social and web feeds into a single, chronological timeline.

Tapestry supports platforms such as Bluesky, Mastodon, Tumblr, RSS feeds, YouTube, and podcasts, offering users a streamlined way to browse content without algorithmic interference. Originally introduced as a Kickstarter project over a year ago, the app is now available for download on the App Store. The app emphasizes user control and privacy, allowing for a personalized experience with custom timelines, reading position syncing across devices, and color-coded content streams. Users can also create rules to mute or filter out unwanted topics—ideal for avoiding spoilers or staying clear of certain discussions across all feeds.

Search functionality is another key feature, enabling users to find content across different platforms simultaneously. Additionally, Tapestry supports third-party connectors, allowing users to integrate additional open data feeds. Unlike many social media platforms, the app does not sell or share user data, keeping searches and content viewing private. Customization is a major focus, with options to adjust app icons, layouts, and fonts, along with light and dark mode support. Users can also save posts and videos for later viewing.

As decentralized and alternative social networks grow in popularity, apps like Tapestry – and the similar cross-platform apps like the recent startup Openvibe – have become a small but notable part of the social media ecosystem. With users now scattered across multiple platforms due to issues like X’s changes or Meta’s adjustments to the content that they regulate, being able to engage with multiple social media platforms at once has become increasingly more important.
