Reddit Introduces New Trend Tracking and AMA Ads Features
Reddit is enhancing its platform for brands and marketers with two new features: Reddit Pro Trends and AMA Ads.
Reddit Pro Trends, part of the platform’s Pro dashboard, allows businesses to track the growth of discussions in real time. By monitoring custom keywords or phrases such as brand names, products, or trending topics, businesses can see how Reddit users are engaging with these terms. This tool includes over 100,000 pre-programmed keywords to track, providing real-time insights into discussions across Reddit communities.
Each tracked term comes with a visualization of conversation volume over time, a list of related communities, and a feed of relevant posts for deeper engagement. Additionally, Reddit plans to include related keywords for further exploration, making it easier for brands to understand the broader context of conversations and competitor activity.
In addition to Pro Trends, Reddit is introducing AMA (Ask Me Anything) ads, which enable brands to promote their own AMA sessions within the app. This feature aims to increase visibility and participation in AMA chats, one of Reddit’s most popular formats – and something that has become fairly synonymous with Reddit itself, due to how many celebrity AMAs have taken place on the dedicated Ask Me Anything subreddit alone.
The ads will include a “Remind Me” button, allowing users to RSVP and receive reminders to increase engagement and ensure that AMAs are handled with more timely replies and reviews. Brands will also be able to track RSVPs and gauge interest in their AMA promotions via Reddit’s Ads Manager.
Given Reddit’s fairly unique standing compared to other social platforms, these features seem carefully designed to suit the needs of advertisers on the platform. While conventional ads are also an option, being able to reliably track trends and properly advertise in regard to AMA threads may make a huge difference in the long-term.
