Croissant Launches to Provide Bluesky, Threads, etc. Crossposing

A new app called Croissant, launched by Dublin-based developer Ben McCarthy and iOS developer Aaron Vegh, addresses a growing challenge for users of social platforms like Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads: cross-posting. Unlike existing solutions like Buffer and Hootsuite, which cater to businesses and marketing professionals, Croissant offers an affordable option at just $2.99 per month, targeting everyday users who need to manage multiple platforms without the high costs.

Croissant simplifies the process of posting to multiple platforms, supporting features like image attachments, alt text, threaded posts, and content warnings. It currently supports cross-posting on iPhone for Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads. The app also includes optimizations for iOS 18, offering custom app icons and iPhone-exclusive features.

McCarthy developed Croissant out of frustration with manually posting across platforms. He aimed to create a streamlined solution for individuals who use social media as part of their work but don’t generate direct income from it. Croissant competes with other cross-posting apps, such as Fedica, but offers a budget-friendly option with additional features planned, including scheduled posts and hashtag auto-complete.

Subscription options include $2.99 per month, $19.99 per year, or a one-time payment of $59.99 for lifetime access. Future plans may expand Croissant to other devices, including iPad and Mac – but this depends heavily on the app’s success as a whole.
