Meta Expands AI ‘Imagine’ Feature to Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger
Meta has unveiled its latest AI-powered “Imagine” feature, expanding it to Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Initially introduced earlier this year, the feature allows users to recreate their profile pictures in a variety of AI-generated styles. At the 2024 Meta Connect event, the company announced that the feature is now available to all users, enabling them to generate and share custom images based on text prompts or uploaded pictures.
With “Imagine,” users can ask Meta AI to transform them into superheroes, astronauts, or even royal figures, with the results displayed in a digitally stylized format. To ensure transparency, Meta adds watermarks to these AI-generated images. Additionally, the feature now supports sharing these creations in posts, Stories, and direct messages.
Meta is also testing AI-driven content recommendations, displaying suggested profile picture variations aligned with user interests or current trends. If users like the suggested images, they can edit or share them directly in their feeds or stories.
Beyond profile pictures, Instagram DMs and Messenger will now offer personalized chat themes using AI, enhancing user interaction through deeper customization options. This rollout highlights Meta’s continued investment in AI-driven user experiences across its platforms – something that has seen occasional hurdles due to developing regulations against AI.
