TikTok Expands Subscription Monetization Features
TikTok is expanding its subscription offerings to non-live creators, allowing a broader group of users to monetize their content through subscriber-based perks. Originally launched in 2022 for live creators, TikTok’s subscription feature now gives eligible non-live creators the ability to offer exclusive content under a subscription model.
Eligible creators can offer three distinct pricing tiers, featuring benefits such as:
- Private Communication Channels: Subscribers gain access to exclusive chats, comments, and messages for direct interaction.
- Exclusive Content: Special videos and notes available only to subscribers.
- Community Identifiers: Unique stickers and badges to highlight subscribers in the creator’s community.
- Customized Perks: Options like Discord roles, shoutouts, and custom rewards designed by creators.
To access the feature, creators must be at least 18 years old, maintain an account in good standing, have 10,000+ followers, and generate at least 100,000 video views in the past month. Not only does this incentivise more creators to start monetizing their content, but these changes could also lead to a larger push for higher engagement, allowing the platform to do the same things as apps like Patreon and OnlyFans while keeping users in the TikTok ecosystem.
