WhatsApp Expands Community Management Tools with New Features
WhatsApp is rolling out new group management tools aimed at enhancing community organization and administration. These updates, including ownership transfer and visibility settings, are designed to streamline management for admins and improve functionality for large groups. The new tools aim to position WhatsApp as a competitive option against alternatives like Telegram, which has long offered more advanced features for group messaging.
One key addition is the ability for admins to transfer ownership of a Community or group chat to another admin. This feature can be particularly useful for business, social, or interest-based groups where leadership changes may occur. The transfer option is easily accessible in Community settings, and the new owner is notified immediately of their updated role.
Another notable update is the new visibility setting, which allows admins to set certain group chats as visible or hidden when adding them to a Community. This feature is especially useful for large communities with various sub-groups, as it helps reduce clutter and ensures that only relevant members can view specific discussions. Once a group’s visibility is set, changing it requires re-adding the group to the Community.
These updates follow a fairly diverse range of updates to WhatsApp’s features, some of which are still partway through being finalized. As the rollout continues, admins can expect smoother group management and greater flexibility in organizing their Communities, whether those are used for social reasons or as a business tool.
