Zapshot: Voice-to-Text App Targets Students & Expands to Roblox

Available on iOS, Zapshot is a voice-to-text chat app targeting Gen Z students via a recent giveaway and expansion to Roblox. The platform’s launch of “Zapland” on Roblox, a game inspired by its core features, has attracted 100,000 players within its first 10 days.

Zapshot’s mission is to simplify how Gen Z connect with their friends. Users tap a button to speak, and the app transcribes the voice message to deliver it directly to their friends.

Launched last year, the platform seeks to make chatting to friends easier without losing the emotions and nuances contained in a voice note. To that end, its keyboard-free chat experience is supported by AI-based tool ‘ZapVoice’ which helps identify the tone and cadence in a voice message to reflect these into the transcribed text.

Additionally, by prioritizing student feedback, Zapshot aims to meet the evolving needs of digital natives and foster a more intimate and engaging user experience for them.

With this in mind, the platform recently launched a “Zapshot BFF Summer Giveaway” as part of its “Student Life with Zapshot” campaign. This promotional initiative encourages students to share who they want to spend their summer with, with exciting prizes for the lucky winners to enjoy with their friends.

The campaign collaborates with UCLA students to join in “Zap Talk Shows” led by interns to share their thoughts on a given topic. The shows make use of the app’s Peekable Chat feature while showcasing student voices.

In addition, the app’s popular Roblox offering “Zapland” offers a unique gaming experience influenced by Zapshot’s key features. It allows players to immerse themselves in a dynamic world where voice messaging plays a key role in gameplay.
