FeaturedSocial DiscoveryStartup Roundup

Startup Roundup – 7th June

Social Discovery Insights is constantly on the lookout for new players, disruptive business models, and innovative technologies, in the social discovery market.

  1. Airbuds Widget: One of the fastest-growing social music apps, this free widget allows users to connect over their listening activity. Its simple interface shows users one song along with listeners’ profiles and their reactions, which can include emojis and pre-made texts. It enables messaging by replying to a person’s song on the main page or by clicking on their profile to chat one-on-one directly.
  2. Spacehey: A retro social network reminiscent of Myspace, which prioritizes privacy and a user’s ability to customize their experience. In line with its Y2K aesthetic, it includes nostalgic features like IMs, bulletins, blogs and forums. The platform already counts over 900,000 users.
  3. Kinnect: This soon-to-launch app for iOS users supports its users to record and store generational memories with their given or chosen families. Users create invite-only spaces where they can collectively create ‘storybooks’ of memories with multimedia content, including videos and voice recordings.

In Case You Missed It! Here’s last week’s Startup Roundup:

  1. Catchup: Designed to combat superficial social media interactions, Catchup helps users stay in touch with friends and family by setting reminders for intentional check-ins. Available on iOS, the app allows users to track interactions and remember important dates, with a free trial for up to two contavcts and an $8 in-app purchase for additional features.
  2. Spoony: A social network for neurodivergent, chronically ill, and disabled individuals, Spoony provides a safe space for users to share experiences, ask questions, and connect. Its Spoon Status™ feature allows users to indicate current energy levels and needs. The app is free to use with an open waitlist for early access, and a public launch to follow soon.
  3. Noom Vibe: Blending health and social connection, this app encourages healthy habits by tracking steps, workouts, meditation, and more, rewarding users with virtual “Vibes” currency. Vibes can be redeemed for gift cards or donated. Social features include live coaching and community circles, and it’s available for free for iOS and Android users.
