Click – Social Networking Club Launching Soon in UK City
Click is a social networking club launching next month in Bristol, aimed at fostering new friendships among the under-40 demographic through fun events.
Having experienced the challenges of making new friends in adulthood themselves, the club’s two founders recognized a need for more opportunities to make social connections.
“I speak to my friends and they say, ‘I don’t know how you just go and say hello to people, it terrifies me”, shared co-founder Sarah Davies with the BBC.
Davies added that social anxiety appears to be on the rise since Covid, and with many more now working from home, there are fewer chances to socialize with new people than before.
Together with Click’s other co-founder, Lucy Coxon, the two have organised an inaugural lineup of Click events over 2 months – starting May 1st – which include free and paid for activities at various prices.
From fitness classes and wine tasting nights, to craft workshops and a 5k jog followed by a picnic, there is something for everyone. Their hope is that the diversified calendar of events will allow attendees to meet like-minded people with similar interests, to form lifelong friendships.
The initiative is likely to resonate with the city’s 25-to-35 year olds, who are reportedly experiencing more anxiety and a “lack of social confidence” since the pandemic, according to non-profit organisation Bristol Mind.
