Social Discovery Insights is constantly on the lookout for new players, disruptive business models, and innovative technologies, in the social discovery market.

  1. Yolk: Users let their face do the talking on this AI-powered social app with no texting allowed. Instead, users must communicate via live custom stickers, generated by the photos or clips they take of their immediate surroundings.
  2. Connectible: This London-based startup is the first social community platform for original comic art collectors. It gives users the power to curate and customise their galleries, post content, follow and chat with other enthusiasts. Its community marketplace feature to buy, sell and trade.
  3. Nospace: This primarily text-based social app seeks to be Gen Z’s Myspace, and while its official launch is still TBA, it’s already gone viral on TikTok and has a waitlist of over 350,000 people. Its features include customizable profile pages and a mostly text-based feed. It’s backed by investors including Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

  1. Axir: For sporty people looking to meet new friends through activities, Axir allows users to post an activity idea, which could be tennis, a hike, or dinner. Users can customize the privacy settings of an activity they post, and make an event ‘secret’ if it’s a private gathering.
  2. Whyzzer: A knowledge-sharing app, where users can host a talk on a topic they’re experts in, or join other people’s talks as a guest. Each ‘Talk’ becomes its own video conversation thread, encouraging genuine interactions. Users can network and share their expertise on topics of interest.
  3. The Lo: This paid membership-based network connects queer women to friendship and community near them. It provides a space for online connection, and opportunities to meet in person through member-run and company-run events. It also welcomes non-binary and gender nonconforming users.
