Liveliness – A Sports Community App To Find Workout Buddies

Liveliness is a Spanish startup and new app based on finding community over shared fitness interests.

The app is getting noticed after exhibiting at the Barcelona-based 4YFN conference, the world’s largest for showcasing startups in the mobile app industry.

It uses a freemium model, with the free version available to all, and a soon-to-launch premium version for paying subscribers.

Users can post sporty meetups for others to join, and use the chat feature to make like-minded friends. Another stated goal is to help users to connect with qualified sports coaches.

It includes a feed to browse non-user organized events for improving various sports skills, like running clubs and yoga sessions.

Liveliness plans to monetize through its premium version and commissions from paid events featured on the app’s non-user events feed.

It soft launched a year ago and rolled out a major update last summer, with currently around 2,3k users in Spain.

“In the last three months people really started to use the app, making plans, creating events.” shared the app’s Founder and CEO, Marco Savino, in an interview.

The idea for Liveliness came from Savino struggling to find people to go hiking with using through existing meetup apps (like Meetup). So he sought to build a platform specifically for sporty types to find each other and plan activities.

“If you go and see all the plans, you can see the people talking and doing some meetings so it’s really nice to see people starting to understand the app and use it.”

It’s gaining traction with more users, who can add multiple tags for specific sports interests. Running is the most popular on the app, which aims to be a welcoming and community-minded space.
