The Magnet app by the global tech company Social Discovery Group leans into the gamification trend by incorporating game-like features into user interactions, with users initially connecting through digital avatars before they can unlock access to real photos and advance to new levels.

Magnet removes appearance bias from the initial connection, since users only see another person’s cartoon avatar generated from their selfies.
